Thomas Barnett, MD
Dr. Barnett grew up on Long Island. He was one of 8 children. He graduated from Princeton with a degree in Biology and played defensive back on the Tigers football team. Dr. Barnett obtained his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington DC in 1987. He completed his surgical residency program, from Lankenau Hospital, an affiliate of Thomas Jefferson University, in 1992. He served in the U.S. Airforce at Dover Air Force base (DAFB) from 1992-1996 where he started the Laproscopic/Minimally Invasive Ambulatory Surgery programs.
Doctor Barnett is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is the former Chief of the surgery department at Kent General Hospital and Bayhealth Medical Center, and is now the current President of the medical staff at Kent General Hospital and Bayhealth Medical Center. He is also the president of the Medical Executive Committee of the Delaware Surgery Center. Doctor Barnett has been voted "Top Doc" by Delaware Today magazine and currently lives in Dover with his wife of almost 40 years and has three children. He enjoys fishing and working out at the Dover YMCA.
